On December 1 - 3, 2023, Masjid Bilal Islamic Center hosted its Inaugural Weekend Celebration. Muslims from around the world attended the three-day event, which was highlighted the opening of our new masjid, built from the ground in Los Angeles.
A distinguished group of dignitaries and politicians participated in the ceremonies including the major of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, who toured the new facility guided by the community's long-time religious leader, Imam Abdul Karim Hasan.
Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon also attended the ceremony and addressed the community. Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager-Dove and 9th District Councilman Curren Price each presented special proclamations to Imam Hasan and the Masjid Bilal community. A wide range of Muslim dignitaries also attended the event including Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, who delivered the khateeb address at the inaugural Jumuah.
Also in attendance were Imam Darnell Karim (Chicago, IL), Imam Faheem Shuaibe (Oakland, CA), Imam Omar Shaheed (Columbia, SC), Sheikh Abdul Wahab Omeira, and Yusuf Estes, who delivered the keynote banquet address.
